It is unfortunately allowed in sunscreens, yet is linked to cancer and health problems. Many other chemicals found in popular brands of sunscreen can also go into our bloodstream. They will trigger rashes and allergic reactions. You can also start testing healthy oils such as red raspberry oil which can contain a natural SPF of 28 to 30. Carrot oil is also on top of the list and can contain an SPF of 38 to 40. Other oils such as coconut, sesame and olive have too low of a protection: between 2 to 8. Take a green step and use lemon, white vinegar and baking soda as your natural disinfectants of choice. Make your own solution: you will save a lot of money and reduce chemical exposure for you and your loved ones. Mix 1 cup of white vinegar and 2 cups of water Add 1/3 of cup of organic lemon juice Scrub away: You will get a germ-busting disinfectant to whiten your porcelain sinks, bathtub, shower and toilets. Your white porcelain will sparkle! Use a dye-free, non scratch scrub sponge instead of paper towels and you will have taken a giant green step today! For your laundry: Mix it in a container to spot treat ( white clothes only) or just add straight to laundry if presoaking. You just have to shake it before you use each time. Warning: do not use on porous surfaces.
